I do not believe anyone could say that I have not personally applied the heat on the TVA for many years. And it is somewhat gratifying that many of my charges are now being recognized and repeated; not only by the TVA OIG but by many other writers.
I do not claim undue credit, however. KNS reporters like Scott Barker, Dave Flessner with the Chattanooga Times Free Press and Anne Paine of the Tennessean have used their best journalistic efforts to expose TVA for what it is; a rotten to the core federal agency that should have been abolished decades ago.
But Congress wimped out because there were “no congressional appropriations”, no bargaining chips for either side. Left then to its own devices TVA has shown its ugly face to all Americans and to the world even to the extent of lessening the credibility of the federal government.
Many questions remain; (I know some of the answers) and they lie in criminal and civil indictments. The OIG never mentioned TVA’s outrageous bonus structure or the fact that the OIG is paid from TVA funds. And they never even suggested there was possible criminality involved.
More work for investigative reporters like Scott Barker to get at the nub of the matter. Go Scott!
